Beijing City Tour

After summer session and before fall semester I had about 4 weeks off. During the first two weeks off I did a couple of studies with two separate groups. During the third week off I had the chance to stay with an old junior high friend in Beijing. He had room at his place for me in the WuDaoKou district and just happened to have a spare ticket to see the decathlon and mens walking at the National Stadium (Birds Nest). The timing and circumstances couldn't have been more perfect.

These set of pictures are of me checking out the city for about 6 days.

1) This is the WuDaoKou train station stop near my friends place. There's actually a Korean community that lives here. Some study at a Chinese language school and there some Korean shops nearby. That surprised me for sure.

2) This is the CCTV building. Quite an amazing design for sure.

3) This is expensive shopping district. I took a picture of the Adidas building. The stuff they sell at these stores costs more than they do in the U.S.

4) Never went inside this place. Thought it might be some code.

5) This is the Temple of Heaven. I don't know much about it. You can Wikipedia it.

6) I am standing at Tienanmen Square here. They added a lot of Olympic floral arrangements all around.

7) This is the entrance to the Forbidden City. As seen on CNN I saw dudes playing basketball inside.

8) This is the New Summer Palace. This was a very impressive place and it's huge! So many buildings, so much plant life and lakes everywhere. Incredible.

9) I went to the Beijing Zoo for about an hour. The pandas were the main attraction.
